Ahmet Ögüt
Born in 1981 in Diyarbakir, Turkey, Ögüt currently lives and works in Istanbul and Amsterdam. His practice incorporates a variety of media including video, drawing and installation, with performance often playing a major role in the conception or realization of the work. His subtle references to complex topics including religion, social and rural customs and the specter of war in this region are offset by an edge of humour. In 2005 Ögüt participated in the 9th International Istanbul Biennial. Recent solo exhibitions include Softly But Firmly at the Galerija Miroslav Kraljevic, Zagreb, Light Armoured at YAMA, Istanbul and Ahmet Ögüt Mala Galerija / The Museum of Modern Art of Ljubljana. In 2007 his work was included in Stalking with Stories at Apexart, New York and in Video Booth at DIFC Gulf Art Fair in Dubai, curated by Bidoun.
