Inci Eviner
Born in Polatlı, Turkey, lives and works in Istanbul.  Inci Eviner’s works tell intricate stories, populated by distorted beings, body parts, beasts, birds and fish. Yet these strange and surreal characters are not grotesque, but quirky and ethereal. They inhabit her fantastical photographs, animations, wallpapers and many drawings where they take shape in the form of sweeping black lines, playing amongst organic forms and references to Ottoman imagery.

In 2005 Eviner was an artist in residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), New York, USA. Her solo presentations include Erratic Lines at the Monique Goldstrom Gallery, New York, USA and Before Language at the Rockefeller Foundation Residence in Bellagio, Italy. Selected group exhibitions include, in 2007, Modern and Beyond at SantralIstanbul, Istanbul, Turkey and Affınıtıes, Deutsche Bank collection, Guggenheim, Berlin, Germany; in 2006 in EURHOPE 1153 Arte Contemporanea dal Bosforo,Villa Manin, Italy and European Reflections organized by PRO Charlottenborg Kopenhagen Denmark. In 2005 Evinder participated in Free-Kick in the Hospitality Zone of the 9th International Istanbul Biennial, and in 1997 in Memories and Modernities at the Venice Biennale, curated by Beral Madra, Venice, Italy.
