Eleni Kamma
Eleni Kamma  (b. 1973 Athens) lives and works in the Netherlands and Greece.

Kamma's research evolves through the use of architectural drawing conventions as structures of desire; to focus on the development of organizational modes that explore the notion of the in-between space, a space defined at the rift of binary given structures and stereotypical opposites. Through her work she suggests that this in-between area might provide possibilities of a future architecture, an architecture of acceptance of the ‘other’, of the ‘different’.
Kamma has been influenced by the writing of Irigaray and Grosz, and her work follows the philosophy  “live well together in a lasting way” by discovering new ways to co-exist in and constantly be able to re-produce via modes of continuous transformation.

Her drawings, sketch books and videos use forms of architectural and design language, incorporating references to the plan and construction, ornament and structure, form and content.
They re-examine systems of classification, order and hierarchy by targeting those elements that are rarely considered by official architecture: women, plants, nature and groups of people living in the margins of society.
By examining spatial properties such as symmetry, the double and transparency and through discontinuities and juxtapositions of binary structural systems, Kamma's work leads towards the creation of an open-ended system of narrative and the possibility of finding a Utopian architectural space.

Kamma was nominated for the 5th Deste Prize and the Lissone Award in 2007. Solo exhibitions include in Once Past the Years of Green Emotion at Loraini Alimantiri/gazonrouge in Athens (2007); and Eleni Kamma at Vamiali’s in Athens (2005). Her work has been included in group shows such as In Present Tense: Young Greek Artists, curated by Dafne Vitali, Tina Pandi, and Stamatis Schizakis, at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens (2007); Lissone 2007 Award at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Milan (2007); the 10th International Istanbul Biennial, curated by Hou Hanru, at Antrepo 3 in Istanbul (2007); Other Spaces at the 1st Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Biennial: “Heterotopias”, curated by Apostolos Kalfopoulos in Thessaloniki, Greece (2007); Take My Breath Away at Galerie La Centrale-Powerhouse in Montréal (2006) and AnotherProduct at Cornerhouse in Manchester, UK (2006).
